In Bangladesh, the UWC movement officially began back in 2007 and since then hundreds of children from different backgrounds, ethnicity, race, gender, and culture have had the privilege to be a part of this movement of building a sustainable future for all. Every year UWC Bangladesh National Committee selects students for placement in different UWC Colleges. The children go through a rigorous selection process and finally get selected by our prestigious members of our National Committee.

The current President of the UWC Bangladesh National Committee is, Mr. Raquib Md Fakhrul.  Here is his message:

"It is my great honor to serve as the President of UWC Bangladesh since 2016. These past eight years, we have empowered the brightest children from all walks of life in Bangladesh with a UWC education — an experience like no other. I would like to take this moment to celebrate the UWC movement, our students, and the incredible progress we have made together as a National Committee.

In 2023, our efforts to empower young minds resulted in 25 placements from 8 UWC’s around the world. Among the cohort of students attending UWC’s this year, we have awarded a full scholarship to Tamanna Akhter (UWC Dilijan 2023-25) from JAAGO Foundation, Jabin Jaman (UWC Waterford 2023-2025) who is a national table tennis champion from Joypurhat Cadet College and Mitu Shil (UWC Mahindra 2023-25) from the Camelia Duncan Foundation School in Sylhet. These scholarships not only recognize the exceptional potential of the students but also highlight our unwavering commitment to breaking down the financial and socio-economic barriers to education.

I extend my deepest gratitude to each and every member of our UWC Bangladesh community, including volunteers, staff, and supporters, for their tireless dedication and generosity of spirit. It is because of your efforts that the National Committee has opened doors for so many students and continued to strive towards inclusivity and equality.

Being from the class of 1994 in UWC Southeast Asia (UWCSEA), I have witnessed first-hand the power of a UWC education - one that challenges stereotypes, bridges divides, and empowers students to work towards a more inclusive and harmonious society. It is the values instilled in me during my time at UWC that paved the path for me to become an alumnus of Harvard Business School. The transformative education at UWC has been the very foundation of my personal life, ambition, and career. Serving on the National Committee, I have had the pleasure of seeing this trajectory pan out for countless other students in the nation.

Our UWC community in Bangladesh continues to grow, with over 400 alumni, who are currently making a difference in various fields in this world. 104 students were given need-based financial aid till 2023. From 2016, 67 students were given financial aid and 24 students were given full scholarships. This remarkable growth serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for our current and future students. To foster stronger and deeper connections. This platform will allow us to gather together, strengthen our commitment to positive change, and uplift the UWC mission as part of a larger. 60,000-strong alumni network."
